This upcoming Tuesday at 6PM in the classroom!
Don’t miss out on the fun discussions and FREE ice cream!
Last Sunday, Oct. 23rd at 7 p.m. in Velzy Commons, I attended the United We Stand Series. The speaker for the night was Caroline Spencer. She is a devoted mother and wife who has completed 125 marathons, six 100-mile endurance races, 11 Iron Mans, and 11 Boston Marathons. She shared many stories of her experiences with running, such as her experience surviving the Boston Marathon bombing. Caroline talked about perseverance and pushing farther than anyone thinks possible. Caroline has inspired and motivated me to step outside of my comfort zone and try new thing. I will not give up easily. If she can run 100 mile races within 30 hours than I can do whatever I set my mind on!
Here are a list of the future United We Stand Speakers for the academic year. I hope to see you there! 🙂

Hey six south!
First of all, shout out to Kayla for attending! Hopefully we can get better attendance next time. If I begin to plan a program that you don’t like or that doesn’t fit your schedule, please come talk to me immediately. I will do my best to accommodate more of you.
That being said, it was a great time. I’m no athlete anymore, but it felt really good to stretch out my body again in ways I never knew I could. Plus, at the end she walked us through this procedure where we would lay down and get very relaxed and then she would tell us to tighten up certain parts of our body and then relax. It was an excellent way to unwind and I will definitely keep that in mind next time I feel stressed.
She also said it’s really helpful if you’re having a hard time falling asleep. I know I totally feel better and my mind feels much emptier than it did before I started.
Once again, please give me ideas for programs! I’d love to hear from you! 🙂
So this wonderful lady came in and told us all about her triumphs in running. She has run more in her life than I have probably ever driven. She has gone through over 100 marathons, as well as a ton of Iron Man’s and 100 mile runs that can take over 30 hours to complete.
She always emphasized on her very normal body. She was fit, but not what you would expect from a big runner. That’s what was the biggest thing to me. I’m not in the best shape either but she kept telling us that it’s 60% mental to be able to run that long distance.
It’s just like anything else. You can never give up! If you never give up and keep telling yourself you can do it, before you know it, it’ll already be done!
Hey Rountree People!
Last night Matt Boland from 3 south put on an awesome Mario Kart program. We had a whole tournament with brackets. Furthermore, when it wasn’t your turn to race you can always just watch the others but we also had a game of Sheepshead being played.
Shoutout to everyone form 6 south that showed up! Although we were victorious, it was still a ton of fun!
Overall, the whole thing went super well. It was full of laughter and friendly competition. I’m sure we’ll have other fun events going on again soon.
