One Love

Hey all!

So Nicole just put on an awesome program about One Love but unfortunately I was unable to make it to that event. But fear not! I was still able to make it to a seminar and get my proper knowledge; although I’m sure it wasn’t as good as Nicole’s. 🙂

Last Thursday I went to Loras College in Dubuque for a seminar held by last year’s SA, Hannah Shuler. She was one of the SA’s here in Rountree; she did the same job as Ian does now.

Anyway, she is now working for Loras College and loving it! She put on this amazing One Love seminar and it was so informative. It shows some good ideas on how to be an active bystander to keep others safe. It may be awkward to jump in, especially if you’re wrong and they’re just playing around. But if they aren’t playing around and there is a problem, you were there to save them, and that would be an amazing feeling.

If you’re looking for more information, please go to this website and learn as much as you can. Thank you!!!

One Love

Good Morning 6 South!

Thank you to everyone who came to talk to me about not making it to the One Love Training, it meant a lot to me. There will be another one in the Spring if you are interest.

There wasn’t a huge turn out of One Love Training but those who did come will help be active bystanders on campus and anywhere.

It just takes one person to make a difference. Be that person!

If you want more information or know an organization who might want to put on a One Love training to help spread awareness of relationship violence and being that active bystander, let me know!

Thanks everyone and have a great day!

Stop the Hate

Hey 6 South!

Last night I went to a Stop the Hate session and there were like 7 or 8 of you there! Super cool! I’m really excited to see you all so involved.

This meeting was geared towards hate bias and the laws that are set in place for it. In fact, there are actually four states that do not have hate bias laws in act; the other 46 do. Don’t worry though, Wisconsin has hate bias laws!

If someone is harassing another, there is a law against that in Wisconsin. If someone is writing slurs on walls, that’s graffiti and hate bias, against the law. It’s another way to make sure that people understand how to be treated fairly.

I look forward to seeing more of you at the next Stop the Hate session!!
