So last week I went to another Stop the Hate session! This one is all about Hate Bias. In most states, there are laws that specifically defend people who were targetted based on their race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. If it proven that the victim was targeted because one or more of those reasons, then the bad guy gets a bigger fine, or more prison time.
Below, in the image, these are some ways that investigation can prove that the issue occurred as a hate bias incident. As an example that was given in the presentation: there were gay slurs written on the concrete outside of the day of a gay awareness convention. This was a bias incident, and the people that were involved got in more trouble because of it.
Hope that you can join me for the next one!
